Softerm Plus+ Adds Suite of Internet Applications to New Version 4.0

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Softronics today announced a new release of Softerm Plus+, version 4.0 that includes integrated Internet applications and still delivers all of its renowned communications capabilities. New features include: Web Browser, SMTP Mail Reader, NNTP News Reader, Graphical File Viewer, 100% DLL VxD TCP/IP (PPP, SLIP, NDIS, and ODI), Graphical FTP File Manager. Softerm, which has provided software communications solutions to Fortune 1000 companies for over a decade, now delivers additonal all-inclusive applications for seeing the sights, hearing the sounds, and meeting the people on the information highway. A special introductory price of $35 is currently being offered; Softerm Plus+ list price is $49.95. Softerm Plus+ makes setting up a connection to an Internet Service Provider as simple as possible for the user. Users select an Internet Service Provider from the Softerm Plus+ Provider Database. Each Provider profile contains discreet settings that are automatically applied when the user selects a Provider. The same process lets users easily change to a new Provider.

The professionally developed and supported Softerm Web Browser displays two or more WWW session windows simultaneously and supports Netscape HTML extensions. The Softerm SMTP eMail Application gives users everything needed to electronically correspond with anyone on the Internet. The Softerm Plus+ NNTP News Reader puts a new medium of information sharing at users' fingertips. Both the eMail Application and the News Reader feature automatic uudecoding, uuencoding and MIME.

Downloading and collecting files from the Internet and BBS's are easily managed. The Softerm Plus+ Graphical FTP File Manager uses drag-and-drop file transfer while displaying both the host and local directory. Softerm Plus+ includes Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, IND$FILE, Kermit and more. Graphical files are displayed during and after download, and file transfer features automatic PKUNZIP.

Users can create slide shows with Softerm Plus+'s Multi Media capabilities. Softerm Plus+ supports WAV sound files, AVI movie files, Fax File view, and any Multi-Media presentation. The Softerm Plus+ Graphical File Viewer displays and redisplays up to 41 different graphical file formats.

A 100% DLL VxD TCP/IP provides integrated connectivity to all Softerm Plus+ applications and also supports all third-party Winsock compliant applications, such as Netscape and Eudora. TCP/IP connectivity for Modem (PPP, SLIP, CSLIP) and LAN (NDIS and ODI) is included.

Softerm Plus+ Terminal/Telent communications application includes exact telnet-aware terminal emulations (TN3270, DEC VT340, VT240, VT320, VT220, VT100, RIPterm 1.54, IBM 3101, ANSI and others), file transfer, scripting, and much more. BBS users can access a CD-ROM database of over 15,000 BBS's with a point and click.
