Columbine JDS Systems and Softronics Announce Joint Venture Providing New Media Products for Broadcasting and Cable Companies.
GOLDEN, Colo. -- Columbine JDS Systems, Inc. and Softronics, Inc. today announced a joint venture that markets Local Online™, a New Media product line that increases Broadcasting and Cable companies reach and frequency. Local Online™ gives stations local, national, and international market presence with complete off-the-shelf solutions for Internet, World Wide Web (WWW), eMail, and local station on-line BBS information services.
Broadcasters are able to become part of the New Media era in as little as four weeks with the Local Online™ WWW Service. The Local Online™ WWW Service provides Web Page implementation, customization, world-wide and local eMail service, Webmaster training, end-user software and station PC software. Columbine JDS Systems and Softronics deliver state-of-the-art technology and design while stations provide their own local content: news, weather, sports, advertisements, community services, entertainment, graphics, and much more to their local market and to the world. Optionally, stations can become an Internet access and eMail service provider to their local advertisers, selective businesses, and/or viewers.
The Local Online™ WWW Service also provides stations with their own personalized communications software to freely distribute to their audience. The local market end-user software connects to Local Online™ WWW Services without monthly subscription fees to Internet Access Providers or Information Service companies like America On Line or Prodigy. This software displays the station's graphical logo/call letters and features an easy-to-use point-and-click Windows interface; however, all Internet users and Information Service company subscribers can also connect freely to the station's Local Online™ WWW, Local Online BBS and Local Online eMail systems.

KKTV, Colorado Springs CBS affiliate, is the pilot and showcase for Local Online™ WWW, Local Online™ BBS and Local Online™ eMail. KKTV will be live on the Internet in April, 1995.
